Autobell Receives Two Environmental Awards

Autobell Car Wash Inc. recently was honored with two environmental awards. The carwash chain was recognized in the for-profit business category during the Charlotte Business Journal’s inaugural Green Awards and by North Carolina’s Mecklenburg County Soil & Water Conservation District as Conservation Business of the Year.

The Charlotte Business Journal award honored Autobell for driving environmental sustainability, while the Mecklenburg County Soil & Water Conservation District acknowledged Autobell’s strict water conservation policies, procedures and practices. The conservation district is a part of the Natural Resource Conservation Service, a division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The organization works with residents, agencies and business owners to plan and direct programs for the conservation and development of natural resources.

Autobell treats 100 percent of its wastewater and recycles up to 100 percent, the company said. One location includes a bioretention pond and rain garden, while another features an Aqua Bio 100 percent reclaim water treatment system in which enzymes digest and recycle wastewater.

In addition, Autobell employees routinely conduct preventive maintenance on equipment to avoid spills and leaks and carry out other daily water conservation practices. The company uses only organic cleaning products, officials said.

Since 2000, Autobell has received seven other environmental awards from various utility, municipality and media organizations.
